Story of day 3

來到OST,不是因為憧憬,而是因為相對於其他任務的陌生,這是我相對有聽過的詞彙,就sign in了,於是當第二天晚餐的暢聊一路聊到踏進教室的那一刻,直到教練那一句:「你們很有勇氣的選擇了這個練習,這是一個非常龐大的任務」,我好像突然回到了現實。
隨著時間流逝——晚上九點必須要參加另外一場線上會議,我覺察到自己內心不同程度的波動。我必須更專心於教練的邀請、介紹、說明與釐清,當團隊正式開始運作後,語言成為另一個影響團隊合作的因子——中日英語言如何更能相互理解?
夥伴提議在我離開前先確認分工,而為了讓我參與分工,對於每一部分的細節還模糊的狀態下,大家進行工作的分配討論,一直到我離開前內心仍是忐忑…當我的工作會議結束時,已將近凌晨12點…正準備去投入OST的準備,夥伴也回來了,搭配海報照片與說明讓我掌握團隊工作進度以及明天待完工作。
晨間的工作會議,幾個夥伴核對了上午要操作的流程,製作大蝴蝶素材的想法被接納與鼓勵,於是在課程開始前,我們就開始各自在角落忙碌著。有趣的是當天silence walk我們也都很有默契的選擇了「錯過」。
這一段錯過的價值,激盪出如何自然而然的在一開始用開啟窗簾「打開空間」的儀式感、讓竹節蟲、蝴蝶、蜜蜂停駐的每一個space可以如何生動的被帶出。
午間的共備團隊出現了衝突,看到呼求,我好想有所貢獻,時間的緊張感,穿梭在成員之間的溝通,也試圖從夥伴以往的經驗中找到一個可能是最好的解決策略,而這個策略最後居然引發更多情緒——原來真正的語言差異來自於彼此思維習慣的不同——讓我也決定let it go…我覺得投入更多在其他的事情上。
這個放手讓我可以有餘裕去當一次蜜蜂、偶遇一隻蝴蝶進行深聊,讓我好好在豐收環節可以看到音樂的4D感,為了捕捉這個畫面,我把它畫了下來跟大家分享…我也慶幸我沒有完全的錯過享受O S T的體驗。
夥伴說他選擇錯過,今天我卻突然發現原來我們團隊沒有一個人錯過在O S T中be hosted——在這個沒有空間的最大空間,我們其實一起談論了「OST的Host」議題,有一直都在任務議題的堅守著崗位(竹節蟲),也有暫時不知道如何幫忙的夥伴去silence walk提供他的貢獻(蜜蜂),也有人覺察自己需要沉澱情緒而選組放空(蝴蝶)」。
翻開「雙腳法則」這個牌卡:對議題沒有貢獻的時候就流動吧,在議題中無所學習的話就流動吧!這像一個當頭棒,限制我的是時間是事情是人是既有的框架與做法,謝謝這一天讓我重新檢視whatever、whoever、whenever、wherever和however對於我個人的意義與價值……
Day 3
Icame to OST not out of longing, but because compared to the other unfamiliar tasks, this was a term I had at least heard of before. So, I signed in. From the second night’s dinner chat all the way until I stepped into the classroom, the conversation never stopped—until the coach said, “You’ve made a very courageous choice to take on this practice. This is a huge task.” At that moment, it was as if I was suddenly pulled back to reality.
As time went by—and with a 9:00 PM online meeting I had to attend—I became aware of the different waves of emotion inside me. I knew I had to focus more on the coach’s invitations, introductions, explanations, and clarifications. Once our team officially started working, language became another factor influencing collaboration—how could Japanese, English, and Chinese be better understood between us?
One teammate suggested we confirm the division of tasks before I left. So, even with the details of each part still unclear, everyone discussed how to split the work so I could be part of it. Right up until I left, my heart was still unsettled. By the time my work meeting ended, it was already close to midnight… Just as I was about to jump into OST prep, my teammates returned. With the help of poster photos and their explanations, I was able to grasp the team’s progress and what needed to be done the next day.
During the morning’s work session, a few teammates checked through the process we would run that morning. My idea for creating a giant butterfly prop was accepted and encouraged. Before the class began, we were already scattered in corners, busy with preparations. Interestingly, during the silence walk that day, we all instinctively chose to “skip” it.
That “skipping” turned out to be valuable—it sparked how we could naturally create a sense of ritual by opening the curtains to “open the space,” and how to vividly introduce each space where stick insects, butterflies, and bees would pause.
At the lunchtime co-prep, conflict emerged within the team. Seeing a call for help, I wanted to contribute. The pressure of time ran through our conversations. I tried to find the best possible solution from teammates’ past experiences—but that strategy actually stirred up more emotions. It turned out the real “language barrier” came from differences in thinking habits. That’s when I decided to let it go… and put my energy into other things.
That letting go gave me space to play the role of a bee once, and to bump into a butterfly for a deep conversation. It also allowed me to fully enjoy the harvest session, where I could see the music in 4D. I even drew it out to share with everyone. I am grateful I did not completely miss the OST experience.
A teammate said she chose to skip, but today I realized that no one in our team actually missed being hosted in OST. In this “biggest space without a space”, we actually talked together about the topic of “ hosting in OST.” Some were like stick insects, holding their positions steadfastly in the topic; some were bees, taking a silence walk to bring back contributions; and some, like butterflies, sensed the need to settle their emotions and chose to drift away.
Flipping over the “Law of Two Feet” card: If you’re neither learning nor contributing in a session, use your two feet and flow to where you can. It hit me like a bell. What limited me were time, tasks, people, and familiar frameworks and methods. I am thankful for this day—it allowed me to reexamine what whatever, whoever, whenever, wherever, and however truly mean to me and my values.
